Dredging the inlet:
Decisions on where and when to dredge are based on periodic soundings done by community volunteers. The actual dredging must follow CAMA regulations and their pre-established calendar.
NC Flood Inundation Mapping and Alert Network (FIMAN) network has a water level gauge on our north seawall going out. This monitors the water level for flooding and shows how the depth at the channel entrance changes according to weather conditions.
